Slow cooker?

Just 50 more of these mini tarantulas and the crock pot will be turned
on! I think a dry white wine will work here.

A nice walk after work...

My day wasn't really on a high note today, BUT I did have a nice time after work today. I took a nice walk along Spring Lake as I walked back to my car and saw turtles piled up on logs everywhere and tons of fish, from tiny ones that jumped out of the water as my shadow passed to larger ones (1.5 ft long?) hanging out in their hole lairs (ok, they jumped too and each time they did so did I!). I need to find out what kind of fish they are. I think someone said they are blue tilapia.

There were all sorts of birds flying around. The ones I could identify today are kingfishers, vultures, loons, egrets, and a couple cormorants. Not to sure what all the young ones were over in the corner. Ducks? Also not sure what that large brown animal was that kept diving down to catch and eat assorted things. Looked about the size of a beaver but it had a long thin tail. I'll have to look into that.

I found some info to share. Check out this website: http://www.edwardsaquifer.net/sanmarcos.html . There are some nice pictures and stories, including the ones about the swimming pig and about Tarzan!

Spring Lake is a small man-made lake over a spring that puts out 152 ft³/sec. How much is that? Sounds like a lot. I'll have to make this my daily path to my car. It's very beautiful on a nice day. Might not be bad on a bad day either. We'll see.

My Photos...

I think I finally figured out what I look for in a photo I want to take, "Alone".

Agelio was saying if might help Julie to better understand her photos if she did that. I stole the idea. I think it's true. Maybe that's why I have a hard time taking certain pictures. And it explains why I always want to stop on the highway and take a picture of closed and broken down places and things. Maybe I'll actually start taking pictures now. Thanks Agelio.

Podcasts. Gotta listen to them more!

Podcasts. I love them. I don't listen as often as I would like to. Or maybe I don't listen as often as I should. Not sure which it really is. Either case, I just want to mention two of my favorites. One podcast is produced by the team behind Manager Tools. Everyone interested in management should be listening to these guys. Every week they have something new to tell us about how to be an effective manager and leader. Read the books at Borders to learn "theory". Listen to these two to learn specific actions to take to be a great manager. Ok, maybe I'll never end up in management, but if this doesn't inspire me, nothing will.

The other podcast (hopefully only on a hiatus due to a recent birth) has taught me a lot about how to use InDesign. It is a video blog put out anywhere from weekly to bi-monthly. Whatever the case, the 10-20 minute tutorials are fantastic. There is a blog and a great vidcast on iTunes. If you haven't listened to this guy, you are using InDesign incorrectly!
